Review: Cape Cod Waffle Cut Buffalo Cheddar

Here it is: the first official Potato Chip World chip review!

As of right now, the Cape Cod Waffle Cut Buffalo Cheddar chip is the best reviewed chip on the site. Over time, that will change.

Positives:

The chip has a great crunch. When you bite into it, you feel that it's substantial. There is a nice spice to the chip. It's clear that this is a buffalo chip. Tones of Frank's Red Hot deliver the spiciness.

Negatives:

Why they call it buffalo cheddar is puzzling. I get heavy tones of buffalo, but little to no cheddar. Simply calling it buffalo would have sufficed, and kept my fingers slightly less orange. The spice has a slightly bitter aftertaste to it. We're thousandths of an inch from these being ridged chips. Splitting hairs here, but the holes on the bag are much more pronounced than the real chips.

Questions:

I've heard of buffalo mozzarella, but never buffalo cheddar? Maybe it's some kind of great lakes artisan cheese variety. If you waffle cut a buffalo, is it safe to assume it's dead? The packaging appears to be a sassy departure for the typically demure Cape Cod packaging. Is waffle cut perceived as "extreme" in the northeast?

Verdict:

I would buy this chip again if it went on sale.
