22 dollars in potato chips arrived from Pennsylvania today, and I couldn't be happier.
Look at them. The packaging! The icons! The price stamps! I am in chip heaven.
The shipment is courtesy of my brother, who is on assignment outside of Allentown. He's in the highest concentrations of unique potato chip brands in America. If you've visited the Chipography, you'd know that over 10 percent of the brands listed are based in Pennsylvania.
The Giant supermarket in his town had no fewer than six local varieties in the chip aisle. We don't have that kind of diversity here in the Midwest (I am based outside of Chicago), so I had to place an order. He obliged.
Thanks to him for packing and shipping. It's not easy to make five bags of chips a small parcel. They arrived break-free in a box the size of a microwave.
I skipped asking for brands I've had before either here or along the Atlantic coast (sorry Herr's and Utz).
So here are the goods (pun intended):
Good's original (the red bag) Martin's Kettle Cooked original Martin's BBQ Waffle Gibble's Hot & Spicy Kay and Ray's original
And this isn't even half of the brands available. What a state!
Over the next several week's check here or my Twitter feed for updates on my journey through some Pennsylvania's finest.
